Denville scores and highlights in the fourth week of the 2009 season. It was a hot one!
Hawks Division
Denville 30 Berkeley 25

Last week was 2 draws so still unbeaten this years so far
Denville 3 Westfield 2 42-42
Hawks 3 fielded a full team and played well in both matches. Our first game was against Westfield 2. Denville led for most of the game, but we ended in a tie in the last minute of the game. Once again its those last minutes that are getting to us.

Denville 56 – Westfield 42
We started off strong with a couple of quick scores and kept the pressure on to win 56-42. Again we had lots of scores it was a good team effort.

Overall another great weekend of rugby.
Eagle Division
Although they were not there, the instructions and guidance of Coach Kara and Coach Amanda were still felt. Eagle 3 had a great start in the first game, but had a case of the dropsies in the second and lost a close one.
Eagle 3 vs. Westfield 1
Denville 15 Westfield 5
Scores from Mike Whitmore (from Troy Denise), Troy, and Kyle Brenner (from Troy). Westfield controlled the ball for long periods of time, but defense played a respectable picket fence and gave up yardage begrudgingly. Two Denville scores came as ball was worked to the outside for a try by the wing.
11am Eagle 3 vs. Westfield Combined
Westfield 15 Denville 10
Scores from Mike Whitmore and Tom Vanier. Maybe the heat got to them, but defense had gaps and knock-ons stymied any offensive initiative. Work still needed to have runner recognize potential offensive overloads and pass quickly to open man.
